Recipe: Paleo Steamed Broccoli with Garlic Oil Drizzle

Broccoli has been the butt of so many food jokes and the object of hate for millions of kids. But that’s because they never tasted it like this!

Drizzle olive oil infused with garlic and chile over your broccoli, and you transform it into a savory side dish that might just outshine the main course. A sprinkling of lemon zest finishes it off with a tangy kick.

Broccoli is a favorite among those following the Paleo diet, and it’s a nutritional rockstar. It’s full of great fiber, omega-3s, and vitamins. Make this recipe a regular on your table, and you’ll look and feel better for it!

Paleo Steamed Broccoli with Garlic Oil Drizzle

Forget boring old broccoli! The garlic drizzle makes this Paleo side dish sizzle. If you’ve got a picky eater who usually turns down broccoli, try this version!

Ingredients

8 cups broccoli florets

2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

5 garlic, thinly sliced

1/8 tsp red pepper flakes

1 tbsp grated lemon zest

1/4 tsp sea salt

Directions

1Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil over high heat.

2Add the broccoli to the pot, and return to a boil, and cook for 6-8 minutes.

3Drain in a colander, then transfer to a large bowl and set aside.

4Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium. Add the garlic and red pepper flakes and cook until the garlic just starts to brown around the edges, 2 to 3 minutes.

5Pour the mixture over the broccoli and stir in the lemon zest and salt; toss well. Serve warm or at room temperature.
