This has been an awesome few weeks of getting to spend time with some of my favorite health expert pals. First, at my biannual Mindshare Summit event where health experts get together to collaborate and network (read: goof off).

My partner in helping Brandon Routh get ready for Superman Returns 9 years ago came in all the way from Iceland! And Kevin Harrington from Shark Tank popped in as well…!

Right after I got home from Florida I turned around and flew to NYC to tape a really fun episode for Dr. Oz that I can’t tell you about …sorry what a tease. And moreover what was I thinking leaving Florida on a Tuesday to go to California to unpack and repack, and fly to NYC on Thursday - fortunately I just stayed on east coast time and honestly it was worth it to get 36 hours with my boys!

This week we are all getting together Friday for rehearsal and then on Saturday we are doing the first ever Health Network Livestream. I am so excited about this - it is featuring a rock star line up of health experts who will all be fueled on Bulletproof Coffee :) sharing their top training with you. There is no charge to attend and it is a one time event so make sure you join us!

Dr. Axe’s Secret Detox Drink Guide How Visualization Helped Me Lose 220 Pounds

I'm going to show you how to make my secret detox drink. I’ll go through all of the ingredients, go over why you need them, and how it helps you cleanse.

It is so important that you start to cleanse and detox your body.
The biggest reason is that you’re exposed to toxins every single day, like never before in the history of man.

A hundred years ago, we weren't exposed to all these environmental pollutants and air pollution. We weren't having heavy metals come in contact with us every single day, and radiation from cell phones, fluoride and chlorine in our drinking water, and all of these other chemicals that we come in contact with all of the time.

Toxicity in your body can lead to fatigue issues and cause trouble sleeping. It can cause weight gain, leaky gut disorder, food sensitivity reactions, hormone imbalance (specifically thyroid problems) and more.

If you have any of those issues, detoxing is key to your road to recovery in getting your health back, and this drink can help support your body in the detox process.

Dr. Axe’s Secret Detox Drink Recipe

1 glass of water (10 oz.)
1 Tbsp. Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 dash cayenne pepper
1 Tbsp. raw, local honey OR 1 packet stevia
1/4 tsp. ground ginger

Mix all ingredients and stir.

Drink 1-3 times per day, 10 minutes before a meal.

#1 The first ingredient is apple cider vinegar

It contains acetic acid and this type of beneficial acid actually helps grow good bacteria in your gut known as probiotics. Probiotics support detoxification of your colon, as does this acid and it helps increase nutrient absorption. And apple cider vinegar has been shown to be beneficial for everything from lowering cholesterol and blood pressure, boosting your metabolism, greatly beneficial for diabetes and it’s amazing for energy.

When you buy this you want to make sure it's raw and unfiltered. Bragg's is a great brand to go with.

#2 The next ingredient is lemon juice

Lemon juice is high in Vitamin C which is an antioxidant and is powerful at supporting your body's detoxification. It also helps with glutathione levels and helps with absorption of other minerals like iron.

You can use fresh pressed lemon juice or if you're buying lemon juice, make sure it's pure lemon juice fresh pressed, not from concentrate.

#3 Next we’ll add in a pinch of cinnamon

Cinnamon is great for balancing blood glucose levels. So if you have diabetes or maybe just in general you want to keep your energy levels up, you’ll want to add a pinch of cinnamon in. And it doesn't take a whole lot. About an eighth of a teaspoon.

#4 Add in a (tiny) pinch of Cayenne pepper

Cayenne is amazing for detoxifying your circulatory system and your blood. Cayenne pepper actually opens up your arteries and your veins, and increases circulation.

Also, it's been shown to lower high blood pressure levels, it's great for your heart, great for your system, and a great detoxifier as well. By the way, don’t go overboard here with the cayenne! A simple pinch is all you need.

#5 Raw honey or Stevia

I love raw honey because it contains pollen. Bee pollen, especially if it's from your local area, can naturally build your immune system.

#6 Ground Ginger

I want to recommend that you customize your secret detox drink. One of my favorite things to add in is ground ginger. Ginger is one of the most anti-inflammatory herbs on the planet. It's great for your gut, great for your joints, and really supports detoxification.

I recommend you consume this one to three times a day before your meal.

Sugar Impact Diet Success Story

Please share how your sugar stronghold was impacting your life.
I truly believe that sugar is poisoning my body! I have been a sugar consumer since my early childhood and have hardly gone a day without it. I have always turned to sugary foods and drinks for comfort when I am stressed. I associate having sweets with “good times” spent with family and friends.

Now, at 39 years old, I am struggling with my health, living with chronic pain and fatigue daily. I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and IBS. I am constantly battling to keep my weight in check and know that my diet is to blame. My sugar cravings have been so strong at times that I feel like I am a drug addict!

I have grown so tired of being preoccupied with food and constantly feeling hungry. I believe that my diet before the Sugar Impact Diet was greatly contributing my lack of energy and overall malaise. It makes me down-right depressed to miss out on playing with my son or spending time with my husband because I need to take a nap in the middle of the day!

I feel like sugar has made me a prisoner in my own body...holding me hostage from a life that I yearn for. A life where my health does not rob me of time from those I love most.

What has changed for you?
Since starting the Sugar Impact Diet, I have felt the grip of sugar addiction slowly leave my world! I no longer have cravings for foods that I know will make me feel terrible as a result of eating them. In fact, I find myself looking forward to my healthier meals and I am now craving foods like hummus and Brussels sprouts!

Taking sugar out of my diet has helped to improve not only my waistline, but also my energy level! I no longer am napping every day like I had been before the program. I still have a ways to go to reach my goals, but I see that I HAVE made progress and I want to continue on this journey for the rest of my life! I can feel the change happening in my body. Although I personally have to take my time in each Cycle of the program, I know that it will soon become my new way of life! A better, healthier life!

How has this impacted other areas of your life, career, confidence, family and friends?
My journey of improvement has just begun, but I have already made changes that have greatly impacted my life and those around me. I have inspired many others to employ the Sugar Impact Diet philosophy. My husband has been eating better to support my efforts and even my Mom has been eating the foods that I am now raving about! It feels good to be a "role model" to the people that you value most in your life!

I hope that in the near future, I can also inspire my diabetic son to adopt better eating habits. Jack also has HFA (High-Functioning Autism) so it will be a challenge to move him away from the carbs and the sugars that he eats in ritualistic ways each day. I hope the knowledge I gain from JJ's program will help me to steer him in the right direction with his food choices. I know that I can help him find ways to stabilize his disease through a healthier diet. It will take time and patience, but it will change his way of life - and mine, as a result!

The Sugar Impact Diet has given me a way to re-program my body and my mind after years of sugar abuse. JJ has taught me to take a closer look at what is in the foods that I am choosing to put in my body and ultimately, how they affect my health. I may not win the contest for losing the most weight and inches, but I am winning the battle of my sugar addiction!
