Recipe: JJ’s Birthday Cake Shake

How about some cake for breakfast?

With this delicious recipe, it’s totally possible. What’s more, you can enjoy it guilt-free, knowing you’ve just given your body fantastic fuel for the day ahead.

This recipe includes some of my favorite healthy ingredients, including clean, lean Paleo protein and fat-burning coconut oil. (In fact, coconut oil has a long list of health benefits worth knowing…) Topped with whipped coconut cream and all-natural sprinkles, you can’t help but celebrate…

So in honor of my birthday, let’s have a shake together!

JJ’s Birthday Cake Shake

Somebody light the candles! Created in honor of JJ’s special day, this tasty vanilla and almond protein shake with whipped coconut cream and sprinkles makes every day a celebration.

Virgin Diet compliant: Cycles 1, 2, and 3
Sugar Impact Diet compliant: Cycles 1, 2, and 3

  • Prep: 5 mins
  • Yields: 1 Servings


2 scoops JJ Virgin Vanilla All-In-One Protein Shake powder (your choice of protein type)*

10 oz. unsweetened vanilla almond milk

1 tbsp almond butter

2 tsp Extra Fiber* or 1 tbsp freshly ground flaxseed

1 tsp real vanilla extract

1/8 tsp almond extract

4-5 ice cubes

1/4 cup whipped coconut cream (optional, recipe below)

1 tsp all-natural rainbow sprinkles (optional, see notes for source)


1Blend the shake mix, coconut milk, coconut butter, almond butter, Extra Fiber, vanilla extract, almond extract, and ice cubes together until smooth. (If you’re using Paleo shake mix, ramp up the blender speed slowly to keep it creamy.)

2Top your shake with whipped coconut cream and sprinkles.

3Your shake can be thickened by adding ice cubes or thinned by adding cold water. Celebration time!

Whipped Coconut Cream

This dreamy, dairy-free whipped concoction makes the perfect topping for any drink or treat. It's a beautiful cloud of naturally sweet coconut.

Virgin Diet compliant: Cycles 1, 2, and 3
Sugar Impact Diet compliant: Cycles 1, 2, and 3

  • Yields: 1/2 cup


1 scoop JJ Virgin Vanilla All-In-One Protein Shake powder* (your choice of protein type)

1 (14 oz.) can full-fat unsweetened coconut milk, refrigerated at least 12 hours

1 tsp real vanilla extract

1/2 tsp monk fruit extract or stevia (optional, to taste)


1Open the can and drain off the liquid. (Save it to use in protein shakes!)

2Then scoop the firm coconut meat into a medium bowl; add vanilla and monk fruit extract or stevia.

3Beat with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until completely whipped and thick.

4Refrigerate until ready to use.
