Recipe: Chocolate Chip Cookie Shake

by JJ Virgin on May 26, 2018

This is exactly how you want your cookie to crumble!

Not much beats the taste of a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie. But once you factor in the harmful consequences of dairy, gluten, and sugar on your waistline, energy levels, and disease risk, it’s not quite such a treat…

Let’s compromise: you get the satisfaction of a sweet treat full of chocolatey goodness, and I’ll rest a little easier knowing you’re setting the stage for a faster metabolism in the process! And considering this scrumptious shake is ready in 5 minutes or less, you don’t have to wait long for TCS. (That’s Total Cookie Satisfaction.)

So you know I like to waltz right on past “good enough” and aim for the best. That’s why, when I make this recipe, I throw in half of a gluten-free, dairy-free KNOW Foods Know Better Chocolate Chip Cookie – not only does it taste great, it adds another boost of protein and fiber!

If you don’t have stevia-sweetened dark chocolate chips on hand, you can substitute a tablespoon or two of raw cacao nibs. You’ll trade the extra sweetness of chips for a nutty dark chocolate flavor and an excellent source of fiber, antioxidants, and superfood goodness. (Find out more here: Top 5 Reasons to Eat Chocolate Every Day: Why Dark Chocolate is Good For You.)

As always, the protein you choose is essential here. Stay away from inflammatory whey and soy, which can actually encourage weight gain, plus cause sinus congestion, skin breakouts, or gas and bloating.

Watch the sugar, too – look for a protein powder that has 3 grams or less per serving. The last thing you want to do is sabotage all the great fat-burning potential of clean, lean protein, filling fiber, and healthy fats by adding more sugar.

I know I’m biased, but I reach for my All-In-One Protein Shakes every time! They’re custom-formulated to give you 21-22 grams of protein per serving, plus all the other nutrients you need for a balanced meal. And they do it with less than 1 gram of sugar, regardless of whether you choose Plant-Based or Paleo-Inspired. (Did I mention these shakes also taste spectacular? Creamy, smooth, and the perfect amount of sweetness.)
