Recipe: Snickerdoodle Shake

by JJ Virgin on May 1, 2018

How about cookies for breakfast, minus all the gluten and guilt?

This simple-but-scrumptious protein shake takes just 5 minutes to make and gives you all the warm cinnamon spice and creamy vanilla of a classic Snickerdoodle cookie. It’s the perfect answer when you’re craving something sweet, but don’t want the sugar crash, inflammation, or weight gain that come with most desserts!

You’ll notice this recipe has both unsweetened coconut milk and coconut oil. That’s because the MCTs (medium chain triglycerides) in coconut are one of the very healthiest fats. You need fat to burn fat, not to mention satisfy the hormones that tell you when you’re hungry.

Research shows that compounds in coconut oil not only boost your fat-burning potential and immune function, they can also be great for brain health. Now that’s a great way to start the day! (To find out more, check out this blog: Five Ways Coconut Oil Makes You Look & Feel Great.)

The cinnamon in this smoothie also has some great health benefits. Yes, it brings that yummy Snickerdoodle flavor – but studies show cinnamon also improves blood glucose levels and lowers cholesterol, specifically for those with type 2 diabetes.1 If you’ve been struggling with your blood sugar, cinnamon is a great addition to your menu.

For added fiber, this shake includes ground flaxseed. if you have a spice grinder, grind your flaxseed just before using it – that’s when it’s at its healthiest. If not, just look for organic ground flaxseed in your supermarket. I love the toasty nuttiness it brings to this recipe, but it also happens to be a great source of heart healthy omega-3s and the fiber you need to feel full.

And then of course, there’s the all-important protein! My Vanilla All-In-One Protein Shake comes in Paleo-Inspired or Plant-Based protein, and you won’t find better quality or taste. We pay to have every single batch third-party tested to the highest standards. That means it’s guaranteed pure, effective, and free of gluten, soy and dairy protein, peanuts, artificial sweeteners and other inflammatory ingredients. You won’t get that promise from other shakes.

My All-In-One Shakes also include the fiber, vitamins, and minerals you need for a complete meal. This isn’t just protein powder – it’s wholesome, balanced nutrition! And it’s been specially formulated to be sure it meets all your dietary needs.

All that goodness is super-important so you can look and feel your best. And the sweet Snickerdoodle flavor is a reminder that not every healthy meal has to be full of kale and wild salmon!
